Within the chiropractic profession, subluxation is referred to when a vertebrae becomes misaligned or moves out of its natural position. A minor bump or slip to a car accident or any sudden trauma are all issues that may lead to subluxation. A vertebrae is in subluxation when nerve pressure builds along blood vessels and everything around it. This pressure comes at a high cost. In order to be completed properly, the messages sent from the brain need to be clear. Subluxation interrupts these natural pathways.
The spine and surrounding features such as discs can begin to degenerate as time goes by and as subluxation goes untreated. As time goes by as the surrounding muscles, nerves and bones begin to adjust to the new shape, degeneration becomes more difficult to reverse. The body is amazing resilient. It will start to adjust to these changes by compensating in other areas. The longer you allow this to occur, the more challenging it is and the longer it will take to revert back to perfect position.
