Does chiropractic work?
Chiropractic helps to remove structural misalignments and postural imbalances that accumulates in our bodies over time. Chiropractic works by allowing your body to heal itself. The nervous system must function well for your body to be healthy. Your nervous system must be free of interference in order for it to function well. Chiropractic adjustments restores spinal function by realigning the vertebrae, thus allowing optimal nervous system functionality and overall improved health.
Why should I use a Chiropractor?
Seeing a chiropractor is not just for neck and back pain. Chiropractic care is a great way to keep your body at peak performance through adjustment, nutrition, and overall wellness. In addition, chiropractic care has been utilized to aid in a wide array of conditions from diabetes to fibromyalgia.
What is Subluxation?
Within the chiropractic profession, subluxation is referred to when a vertebrae becomes misaligned or moves out of its natural position. A minor bump or slip to a car accident or any sudden trauma are all issues that may lead to subluxation. A vertebrae is in subluxation when nerve pressure builds along blood vessels and everything around it. This pressure comes at a high cost. In order to be completed properly, the messages sent from the brain need to be clear. Subluxation interrupts these natural pathways.
Does chiropractic care work?
Chiropractic is the natural way of looking at the human body. The body is amazing and is capable of self-healing and being self-sustaining. In essence, the body is being completely controlled by the brain through its connections via the spinal cord and vast networks of nerves throughout the body. The overall performance of the body is lacking when this system is not operating at its peak.
Medicine and drugs are not utilized as form of treating a patient in the chiropractic world. Drugs and prescriptions can be viewed as Band-Aids to treat symptoms rather than going to the source and treating the real issue at hand.
Back and neck pain is a small piece of what chiropractic is capable of handling. Aside from the more significant issues, chiropractors treat soft and hard tissue problems such as joint pain and sciatica. Some of the issues we treat include fibromyalgia, allergies, insomnia, headaches and much more.
What is a chiropractic adjustment? Is it safe?
An adjustment is a minor manipulation of the vertebrae in the spine. The objective of this manipulation is to realign vertebrae that have shifted out of place for a variety of reasons ranging from normal daily activity to unnatural trauma such as a fall or car accident. When the vertebrae are out of place, overall systemic failure can occur from the muscular to the central nervous system. We can’t function at our full potential without proper alignment and flow of all nerves and systems in the body from the brain.
An adjustment from the chiropractor is when the vertebrae is placed back into position utilizing the hands or an instrument. When his happens, expect a quick movement often without any feelings of discomfort. You may hear a noise referred to as joint cavitation that sounds like the popping of your knuckles. It is the harmless gases such as nitrogen and oxygen being released from the joint.
What should I expect from my visit to a chiropractor?
Seeing a Chiropractor is a new experience for many. Maybe we've heard about treatment through a coworker or maybe we’ve done our own research online. Maybe, like most, you’re just sick and tired of living in pain and it's time to do something about it. No matter the case, your first visit to the chiropractor will really be about getting to know the doctor and discussing your current condition, history and goals.
What results can I expect from treatment?
Our bodies have a tendency to become unbalanced both structurally and within our posture. Chiropractic is based on the premise in that when we remove imbalances and improve posture deviations, the body tends to heal itself. We do this by allowing the network of nerves and signals from the brain to freely flow, without interruption, down your spinal cord and throughout the body. Chiropractors have the ability to allow the body to perform as it was meant to with their skill in removing these misalignments and interruptions.
It’s highly likely your body isn’t functioning at its best due to a misalignment from a car accident, playing sports, falling down or maybe simply bumping into something hard. Keep in mind there are many potential mechanical and structural causes for misalignment including chemical reasons. For example, if you have a poor diet, drink or smoke excessively, the chemical makeup in your body can, in time, cause underlying conditions and disease to appear. Allowing a chiropractor to get you back up to speed both chemically and structurally will bring your body back to the proper state in order for it to perform at its peak performance.
